For the love of Ikat...

i·kat: noun 1. A craft in which one tie-dyes and weaves yarn to create an intricately designed fabric. 2. The fabric so created.

Call it what you want, but ikat is where it's at...from the 2011 runways to dishes, pillows, rugs, and just about everything else, it is taking the world (literally) by storm. Here are just a few of our favorites...

Out with the old and in with the blue

With summer just around the corner, I am constantly trying to think of new ways to brighten a home. Throw pillows, lamp shades, and rugs seem to do the trick without breaking the bank, and why not venture out with a new color that goes hand in hand with the sun? Call it a minor crush on the color blue...

Trust me when I tell you that I am not usually a fan of wallpaper, but something about this blue pattern and matching chair fabric makes me want to change my mind.

"Show me your horse, and I will show you what you are..."

I can't think of a better focal point to a room than a piece of art that evokes something for everyone. I, myself am in love with the horse painting in my dining room. It somehow makes the room feel less stuffy, and I couldn't really ask for more. Check out some of these other great rooms and accessories that are all about the horse.
This striking photograph from Roberto Dutesco’s Horses of Sable Island series is the perfect accent to this bright living space.

"L" is for Lavender...

I must admit, I've never been a huge fan of the color pink, but I am a sucker for lavender. I recently made a last minute decision to change interior paint from a pale grey to a pale grey-lavender, and I have zero regrets. It's so subtle that you almost don't realize it's a little out of the typical neutral beige box. Finding the right shade can be tricky, don't forget to look at throughout the day, since the natural light can make a big difference...
